An Example of Taqiyya

In the book, Terrorist Hunter, Rita Katz wrote about being at an IAP conference in Chicago. IAP is the Islamic Association for Palestine. There were lots of booths at the conference for "charitable" organizations, and at one of these booths, Katz met a man she already knew about: Muhammad Salah.

She pretended she didn't know who he was, and he introduced himself as a "Muslim human rights activist." Katz, a non-Muslim woman dressed as a Muslim, wrote, "He was small, thin, nearly bald. Totally harmless looking."

He told her these conferences were so important because "we can teach you about the oppression and sufferings of Muslims in America and all over the world." Then he told Katz his story. He had been a Palestinian with an American citizenship, a used-car salesman, working in Chicago when he went to Israel to "visit family and friends." But in Israel he was arrested by the Israeli authorities and thrown into prison for five years!

Katz looked appropriately appalled and asked why in heaven's name would they put him in prison? "Because the Israelis oppress innocent Palestinians," he said. "And do you know what is the most shocking part? When I returned to the U.S., after I was tortured and I thought I was going to die in that prison, the Americans placed me under investigation and froze my assets! Me, an innocent citizen, a car dealer, a family man, father of five!"

To any other non-Muslim this probably would have been a convincing story. The poor, oppressed Muslim! It's just wrong to treat people that way. Those Israelis must be very cruel. Those Americans are so oppressive to Muslims! But Katz was not an ordinary non-Muslim. She researched people like Salah for a living. She knew all about him. This frail, innocent-looking man was the leader of the worldwide military wing of Hamas, a brutal terrorist organization! When he was arrested in Israel he had a hundred thousand dollars in cash on him. In his testimony, he admitted the money was supposed to go to "members of Hamas's military wing." He displayed detailed inside knowledge of Hamas's structure and funding, and his testimony was later used as evidence in the New York trial of Musa Abu Marzook, the leader of the political bureau of Hamas (and the man who had appointed Salah to his position as leader of the military wing).

Katz writes: "Salah disclosed (in his testimony) that he'd been authorized by Marzook to recruit individuals for training in the uses of explosives to fight in the 'holy war.' In the United States, Salah began training ten such recruits, three of whom were chosen to carry out attacks.

In addition to supervising the building of bombs, explosives, and remote detonation devices, Salah was instructed by Marzook to develop biological and chemical weapons for Hamas."When Nasser Hidmi was caught trying to detonate a bomb in Israel, he said he had been chosen by none other than the poor, innocent, abused, oppressed Muslim, Muhammad Salah.

This is an example of taqiyya, the principle of religious deception. According to mainstream Islamic doctrine, Islam is in a permanent state of war with any non-Muslim who opposes the rule of Shari'a law. And in war, deceit is a legitimate tactic. In other words, as long as it helps the Islamic goal of making the whole world submit to Shari'a law, it is perfectly all right to lie and deceive.

When I was trying to figure out what I would choose as the three most important things to tell a non-Muslim about Islam, taqiyya was one of the three. The use of taqiyya is the main reason most non-Muslims are so confused about the real nature of Islam — they are constantly being intentionally deceived by orthodox Muslims posing as reasonable, "moderate" Muslims, who are thoroughly fooling everyone from political leaders to the media that "Islam is a religion of peace" and that "Islam has been hijacked by extremists." What they don't want non-Muslims to know is that Islamic teachings are highly political and it is a Muslim's religious duty to strive to accomplish Islam's primary political goal — the establishment of worldwide Shari'a law — in any way he can for his whole life.

Why wouldn't orthodox Muslims want non-Muslims to know this? Because they can make a lot more progress toward their goal if most of us are in the dark. But now you know. If you don't, read the Qur'an and find out for yourself. And then spread the word.

An Op-Ed About CAIR by Sue Myrick

CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, is one of the largest and most well-funded Muslim organizations in the U.S. But they're not the moderate Muslim group they say they are. They're actually a front for the terrorist group HAMAS.

CAIR attacks those who try to speak the truth about what they are up to, like how they're placing CAIR interns in U.S. government offices. Few people have the courage to go up against any terrorist organization, but the former U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district, Sue Myrick, once explained CAIR's motives very clearly and very publicly. I'll quote her in a moment.

The goal of CAIR is to undermine our government by gaining government positions and influencing public perception and eventually replacing our laws with Sharia law. Europe looked the other way for too long and now they are paying the price. We can't afford to look the other way. We can't afford to believe what they say and ignore what they do.

Here's what Myrick said:

I held a press conference on Capitol Hill attended by three of my colleagues in the House of Representatives to call for a federal investigation (s) into a non-profit group called the Council on American Islamic Relations (C.A.I.R.)

Here are the facts:

1. CAIR has documented ties to the terrorist organization HAMAS. This is stated fact by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

In an April 28, 2009 letter to US Senator Jon Kyl, the FBI wrote the following:

“As you know, CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development in the United States v. Holy Land Foundation et al. (Cr. No. 3:04-240-P (N.D.TX.). During that trial, evidence was introduced that demonstrated a relationship among CAIR, individual CAIR founders (including its current President Emeritus and its Executive Director) and the Palestinian Committee. Evidence was also introduced that demonstrated a relationship between the Palestinian Committee and HAMAS, which was designated a terrorist organization in 1995. In light of that evidence, the FBI suspended all formal contacts between CAIR and the FBI.”

In case you are not familiar with the Holy Land trial referenced above, it was a Dallas, Texas trial that ended with guilty verdicts on 108 counts of funneling money ($12 million) to HAMAS.

2. The purpose of our press conference was to make public an internal CAIR memo that documented CAIR's stated goal of placing CAIR interns in the offices of members of Congress, especially the members who serve on the Homeland Security, Judiciary and Intelligence Committees. Let me be clear here, CAIR, a group whom the FBI says is affiliated with the terrorist group HAMAS, is trying to place their interns in the offices of those members who serve on the three committees that handle national security related issues. National Security is the first responsibility of the federal government.

3. Following our press conference, CAIR, immediately labeled we four members as bigots and started their public relations campaign to discredit us by claiming that we were against Muslims working on Capitol Hill. We never said that. At no time during our press conference did we even insinuate that we were investigating Muslims being interns on Capitol Hill.

Our focus was and is on CAIR and CAIR alone, not Muslims.

Likewise CAIR tried to make this a Republican vs. Democrat thing, because the four members at the press conference happened to be Republican.

How then does CAIR explain Democrat Senator Charles Schumer’s call earlier this year for a government-wide ban on CAIR in the federal government due to their ties to HAMAS? Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer has likewise made public her opinions of CAIR and any Google search will find her remarks.

4. CAIR is spending time, money and energy to position themselves as the spokespeople for the moderate Muslim community. Problem is CAIR is not a moderate Muslim organization. It is a radical front group for HAMAS. So who is CAIR competing with for this designation? The real moderate Muslim groups/individuals in America. Groups and individuals like the following who are committed to countering Islamist extremism:

Dr. Hedieh Mirahmadi – President World Organization for Resource Development and Education (WORDE)

Zeyno Baran – Director for the Center for Eurasian Policy at the Hudson Institute

Farid Ghadry – President of the Reform Party of Syria

Manda Zand Ervin – Founder and director of the Alliance of Iranian Women

Omran Salman – Arab Reformists Project, 'Aafaq (Arabic for “horizons”).

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser – American Islamic Forum for Democracy

Karim Bromund – Director of Inter-Religious Affairs for the Islamic Supreme Council of America

I SUPPORT the Muslim individuals and groups mentioned above. These groups renounce terrorists and their radical ideology. They are trying their hardest to be heard and recognized in America, but are being overshadowed and out-funded by CAIR. Today, when something happens that impacts the Muslim community, the media calls CAIR (an unindicted co-conspirator to terrorism and a HAMAS front group) for comment on behalf of American Muslims. What an insult the media is performing on the Muslim community. Instead they should be calling Muslim groups/individuals like those named above. This is part of the reason we are focusing our attention on CAIR and exposing them for who they are. For one they pose a threat to our national security, and two, they deny the ability of legitimate Muslim groups to gain credibility.

5. In July of this year I held a summit on Capitol Hill where I introduced the leaders of eight moderate Muslim organizations to the heads of several US Agencies, Members of Congress and congressional staff. For example, they met with representatives from the State Department, USAID, Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. See through the lies and realize what is really going on here.

We are trying to expose a HAMAS Front Group (CAIR) for who they are, and they are crying we are anti-Muslim hoping that media outlets will ignore the terrorist claim and instead pick it up as a race/religion story. When those claims don’t work, they claim it’s a Republican political thing.

Americans, on this subject we need to stop the Republican vs. Democrat, Conservative vs. Liberal, Christian vs. Muslim division and unite on one simple point…. CAIR is a front group for HAMAS. It was named as an un-indicted co-conspirator in a terrorism case that lead to 108 convictions of funneling $12 million to HAMAS. Because of the evidence produced in that case, the FBI severed all ties with them. This same CAIR, by their own admission, is trying to place people inside the offices of members of Congress who deal with national security issues (judiciary, homeland security and intelligence committees). I serve on one of those committees, Intelligence, am the co-chairwoman of the House Anti-Terrorism Caucus, and have spent the better part of the last four years working every day on terrorism related issues.

If we Americans fail to set aside our political, religious and ideological differences and unite when we encounter the enemy in such stark and plain terms, then God help us.

A Well-Funded Public Campaign of Disinformation

By the time I finished reading the 24-page report put out by Smearcasting.com (about the top 12 Islamophobes in America), I'd scrawled so many notes in the margins, I could have easily written a document twice its size in commentary on the PR effort to convince readers that those who are trying to educate the public about Islam's political goals (and the methods of Jihadis) are all "Islamophobes" who are doing nothing more than smearing the good name of Muslims everywhere and stirring up "racial hatred."

The whole 24-page document, entitled Smearcasting, criticizes, insinuates, implies, but doesn't really say anything substantial. Yet it displays a virulently hateful and sarcastic tone about these "Islamophobes." Ironically enough, they seem Islamophobe-phobic and yet in the entire document, they never once refute any of the quoted claims of their hated dirty dozen.

Robert Spencer, one of my favorite writers, is one of the dozen the document tries to discredit. "Spencer serves as an intellectual force in the [Islam-bashing] movement," it says, "specializing in one-sided interpretations of the Qur'an...Yet Islam does in fact have an interpretative tradition..." The note I wrote in the margin was: "Who cares?!" Let me elaborate on exactly why Islam's interpretative tradition doesn't matter to non-Muslims:

1. Simply by reading the Qur'an — which I have done, and which I recommend you do — you will see why Jihadis are doing what they're doing. They are not "interpreting" the Qur'an and they have no need to do so; they are just doing what Allah tells them to do very directly.

2. You can look on TheReligionOfPeace.com and see the tremendous number of Muslims following the Qur'an's directions.

3. It doesn't matter how the peaceful Muslims have "interpreted" Islamic teachings. It doesn't matter what the "true" teachings are. The non-Muslims — the target of Islamic hatred — need to know what the Jihadis believe, not what the "moderate" or apatheistic Muslims believe.

In addition to all the insinuating and criticizing, the writers of Smearcasting do not acknowledge — and I think this is a significant omission — two vital facts. And the omission of this acknowledgment makes the document lose all credibility. The two facts they omit are:

1. Muslims are committing large numbers of violent acts in the name of Islam.

2. The Qur'an violent and intolerant passages — not mere references to violence but clear commands to Muslims to practice intolerance and violence in their lives.These are such glaring and pertinent facts, I don't think any amount of whitewash of Islam or vilification of these 12 pundits could gain any credibility unless the two facts above are addressed, or at least acknowledged.

Despite all this, the Smearcasting article cheered me up because they offered nothing that caused any doubt about the work we're doing (the dirty dozen and all the rest of the writers, bloggers, podcasters, radio personalities and public speakers trying to educate the public). And more important for my morale, the Smearcasting article revealed the impressive reach of these 12 pundits. It was heartening to know so many people are hearing about Islamic supremacism and apparently wanting to hear the message.

Micheal Savage has a radio show that reaches 8.25 million readers per week. That's impressive. According to the article, Savage "sees a monolithic Islamic scheme to take over the U.S." This statement, as well as many other statements quoted in the Smearcasting article, is never refuted in the article. The authors of the article must have assumed they were writing for multiculturalists who would accept the implication that these claims were preposterous. But, in fact, there IS a monolithic Islamic scheme to take over the U.S. Read about it here. And here. Michael Savage isn't "seeing" it, the Muslims themselves have published their goals!

Bill O'Reilly's Radio Factor show reaches 3.5 million listeners. His show, O'Reilly Factor has an audience of two million prime time viewers. Michelle Malkin and Robert Spencer both have bestselling books. Glenn Beck has the third highest-rated national radio talk show among adults ages 24 to 54, and he has "repeatedly associated Islam with Nazism. He drew a parallel between Mein Kampf and 'jihad' because, he said, both mean 'my struggle.'" Here was another statement left standing, as if it was self-evidently ridiculous, when in fact it is an accurate statement.

Anyway, it was a relief to know these counterjihad pundits were so popular. And it was pleasing to know that in this well-researched onslaught, which was meant to defame and hopefully destroy these twelve kings and queens of Islamophobia, that the best they could come up with was completely toothless.

One of the dirty dozen is Steven Emerson, the man who made the film, Terrorists Among Us. According to Smearcasting, Emerson, "specializes in advancing allegations linking Muslim groups in the U.S. to fundamentalist Islamic international terrorism." Allegations? He's caught them on film!

It seems as if the authors of this slick PR effort didn't think anyone reading it would know anything. Emerson doesn't "alledge" these Muslim groups are linked with terrorism, he simply shows you on film leading known terrorists speaking to large Muslim audiences in America, preaching fiery jihad at events sponsored by large, well-established, mainstream, seemingly moderate Muslim groups in the U.S. Read more about how they operate in America.

I'd like to point out one interesting comment in the Smearcasting article. They were criticizing Robert Spencer, accusing him of "selectively ignoring inconvenient Islamic texts." They write, "A similarly selective reading of the Torah might lead one to conclude that Jews favor killing homosexuals, as well as those who wear garments that mix cotton and wool."

This was one of the best arguments they made in this cloying article, and it is so weak as to be pathetic. When is the last time a Jew killed a homosexual or a someone wearing a cotton/wool blend?

On the other hand, when is the last time a Muslim killed a non-Muslim for being a non-Muslim? Probably a few minutes ago.

These particular texts may be obscure for some Muslims (like those who have never read any Islamic texts), but clearly a lot of Muslims take the Qur'an and Sunnah to heart and sacrifice their lives to fulfill the holy passages. The texts Spencer quotes are relevant and significant right now. Those texts present a concrete threat to the free world. In fact, Spencer continually illustrates quotations of those texts with recent acts of Muslims.

The Smearcasting article also quotes Sean Hannity as saying Islamic extremists have the goal of making Islam the religion of America. This statement was said as if it couldn't possibly be true, which is one of the things that make this article seem like taqiyya. Nobody who wrote this article could possibly be unaware of the goals made public by the largest Muslim organization in America, the Muslim Brotherhood, who very much wants to make Islam the religion of America.

If the people who wrote this article knew about this — and I don't see how they could not be aware of it — then this whole article is an effort to smear the dirty dozen. That is, the article must have been written to intentionally mislead the public about the nature of this issue and to discredit these pundits unfairly and innacurately...knowingly and intentionally. In other words, the article itself is smearcasting. The article is jihad.
