How to Achieve Energy Security and Fair Gas Prices

The following email was sent to ACT! for America members by Kelly Cook, ACT's National Field Director. We at Citizen Warrior fully support ACT's commitment to this issue, and we urge you to help make this happen. The stakes could not be higher. And now, Kelly Cook's message:

Face it. We’ve been played.

OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is playing a deadly game with America. Their oil price fixing mechanism is legendary in the unjust world of anti-trust schemes.

The fact is that oil prices in the $15 to $20 a barrel range provide plenty of fair and reasonable profits for any oil exporting nation. Then why are oil prices today over $100 per barrel? OPEC is laughing all the way to the bank.

Here’s the game: OPEC, through the willingness to price fix among its 12 nation partners, gradually ratchets up the price of oil through secretly agreed-to reductions in supply. They don’t care if they’re not producing as much oil. The skyrocketing prices on the oil they do produce are more than enough to provide for their lavish lifestyles and...their generous donations to worldwide Islamic jihadist operations.

As soon as the American public starts to really feel the pain at the pump and begin to lobby their members of Congress to do something about it, oil supplies “magically” increase and the price of gas settles down just enough to prevent the outrage that was about to boil over. And so the cycle goes — by design!

We at ACT! for America are tired of being played in this deadly game of supplying the enemy with the resources to attack us. This is why we are fully supporting the Open Fuel Standard ACT of 2011. We are calling for Members of Congress to enthusiastically co-sponsor this vital legislation.

Why the Open Fuel Standard Act? Imagine you’ve got a flex fuel car — a car that has been retro-fitted to accept at least 2 different kinds of fuel. You notice the price of regular gas just hit $4.10 per gallon. Because you can also run on methanol (or electricity, natural gas, etc), you check the current price for methanol which is approximately $1.65! Now that you’ve got “Fuel Choice,” you fill up with methanol! Methanol can be produced from natural gas and biomass (common trash, plant wastes, landfill materials, etc). Therefore, it’s a potential environmental winner as well.

What happens when tens of millions of consumers start taking advantage of fuel choice and switch to other fuels? OPEC is forced to bring down its prices in order to compete. Game over. The price of oil per barrel would plummet down to its natural market trading range of $10 to $25 per barrel.

How can we be so sure of this? Brazil has already done it — back in the 80’s and it’s still working for them! Do you know that two of the major car suppliers to Brazil’s flex fuel market are GM and Ford? Brazil’s proven success demonstrates that a single nation can employ this strategy successfully as a solitary nation against the forces of worldwide markets.

Why shouldn’t the U.S. and other major oil consuming countries follow suit? The transition costs are minimal when compared to the tremendous savings and security we all will enjoy through fuel choice!

I know some of you are asking: “What about Drill Baby Drill”? We are enthusiastically in favor of developing all strategies to disarm OPEC and their deadly allies. We need to develop all forms of energy, especially our unfathomable supplies of oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear energy technologies. Encouraging fuel choice through the Open Fuel Standard ACT of 2011 will only enhance these and other needed developments.

The Martyr's Prize: Inspired by True Events

I DON'T USUALLY read fiction, but someone I respect recommended The Martyr's Prize to me, and I just finished it. I liked it a lot. And oddly enough, I felt that the book brought to life the reality of our situation better than dry factual data has ever done.

One "scene" in the story especially affected me; a conversation between a Saudi prince and a young mujahadeen. Their conversation actually kept me awake late into the night, thinking about it.

The mujahadeen only knew about and understood the "hard jihad." But the prince sat him down and laid out the full picture — the carrot and stick of Islamization. On the one side, "life must be made impossible" for the non-Muslims, and they must be in constant fear of their lives; and on the other side, give them a path to peace — submitting to the rule of Islam. The invasion must be simultaneous on all fronts, explains the prince. Speak publicly of peace, but attack anyone who even implies you have "unsavory associations." Buy friends at the newspapers. Use the courts to harass. Make trouble for criticizers. "At that moment something clicked," and the young mujahadeen "suddenly understood the brilliance of the plan. A jihad that could never be defeated because it would be all encompassing; everywhere at once. No focal point to attack with Western military might. Immune, because the West would never engage in genocide; would never outlaw a religion; would never take the steps necessary to defeat such an ideology..." This conversation occurs near the end of the book, and the reader is ready to fully understand it by then. The book starts out with an interesting and provocative premise: Two supervisors at a university IT department find an online video giving instructions in Arabic showing step by step exactly how to make a bomb. It was a tutorial. They trace it and discover to their dismay the video was posted by someone at their university! And in the comments on the video, it said, "Brothers. I have posted this vid in the hopes that someone can translate it into English. Holy Jihad will not wait and we need to prepare. The materials are available and waiting as we speak." These two supervisors were not counterjihadists. They didn't know anything about Islam or jihad. But the idea of someone showing Americans how to build bombs within the country to kill Americans really got under their skin. The more they thought about it, the more they felt motivated to do something about it. But what? They eventually come up with the idea of making a video just like it, except for one small change: To alter the instructions so the bomb detonates while the bomb maker is constructing it! I marked a huge number of passages in the book that I wanted to share, but now I don't want to give them away and spoil the story for you. I would like to quote this little bit, however, to give you an idea of how the author weaves good, valid information into the narrative:

While the bomb tutorial had undeniably been the initial spark, the true turning point was the sniper video. Like a wormhole, it had sucked them in, transporting Jason and himself to another world. Within the week, an embedded link in an online article about a beating in Paris had led to another web site, this one tracking jihadist activity worldwide. He'd been amazed by the sheer number of attacks occurring on a daily basis. For that week alone there'd been thirty-six in various countries, with a body count of 221. For the month, 185 with 943 dead and 1,223 critically injured. The total since 9/11 had crested 14,000 in mid 2009. What would that be? — roughly? 71,000 dead and 92,000 seriously wounded? Digging deeper, it occurred to them that all over the world people were being killed in staggering numbers. And the West just couldn't come to grips with it. The fact that The Religion of Perpetual Outrage claimed religious and minority status gave them immunity, at least as far as the major media and various governmental bodies were concerned. According to the reports, Islam was misunderstood. Islamic scholars themselves clearly couldn't articulate the actual peaceful words of the Prophet. The passages that exhorted coexistence with others — on a permanent basis — were assumed by all to be there, but the subject always seemed to get switched at the last moment, just as the question was about to be raised...

You can read The Martyr's Prize for your own enjoyment. But I think we can also use it to help us educate our fellow non-Muslims. Reading it is like watching a good action movie; it grips your attention and won't let go. Some people don't read much nonfiction, but they'll read a good story, and this is fast-paced with a contemporary storyline and plot-propelling dialog — but it also delivers a motherload of information, and makes many good points. It may be a way to help educate a certain kind of people. Read it yourself first, and then see who in your life might be interested in reading a story like this, and talk it up to those people. Loan your copy to them. It could help people really come to grips with what jihad is really about and what we're up against. In the preface, the author, Brooks William Kelley writes: "The concept of this book was a simple one really — to take stories ignored by the Western media and weave them together to form the plot of this book..." He says, "In my writing, I've made it a point to use actual incidents as a basis for the story. Specifically, the 'workplace accidents' of 2008 and 2009 were instrumental in inspiring one of the main storylines of the book. For those who wonder whether such events in fact occurred, simply pick one and Google it." Kelley has done something really good here: He has given us a new way to reach people, and a way for all of us to more fully come to terms with our situation as non-Muslims.

How to Stop Lavishing Our Enemies With Money

ACCORDING TO military strategists, if you can successfully concentrate force at the decisive point, you are likely to win the battle. For almost ten years we've been looking for the decisive point in the struggle against Islam's relentless encroachment on the West. And we've finally found it.

The core of our problem is that orthodox Muslims in Iran and Saudi Arabia have far too much money to push their agenda. They've used that money to buy influence in the media and in American politics.

And the reason they have so much money is that they have a monopoly on America's transportation fuel. Americans — the biggest buyers of oil in the world — have no choice in our fuel. We must buy gasoline. We are forced by our lack of choice to lavish our enemies with money.

This is it. This is the nub, the core, the pivot point of the global jihad.

Fuel choice is the decisive point. We must get the Open Fuel Standard Act of 2011 passed no matter what.

Right now, it is possible to pass this bill. But as Saudi money continues to infiltrate and influence American politics and media, there will soon come a time when we will find it impossible to pass an such a bill. The window of opportunity will be closed. Our situation is urgent.

"Focus Your Operations On Oil"

IN AN ARTICLE entitled Osama's Oil Obsession, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross writes:

One early indication of a shift in jihadist thinking on attacking oil facilities was Rashid al-Anzi's The Laws of Targeting Petroleum-Related Interests and a Review of the Laws Pertaining to the Economic Jihad, a treatise posted online in March 2004. Anzi, a noted jihadist thinker, called the widespread availability of oil the factor that "enabled America to dominate the world," and explained how attacks on the oil supply could harm the jihadists' foes. He claimed that rising oil prices hurt industrialized countries more than others, and that they were particularly devastating to the United States, the world's largest consumer.

Bin Laden came around to the same basic ideas in an audio recording entitled "Depose the Tyrants," which was released on Dec. 16, 2004. In the recording, the al Qaeda leader asserted that "the biggest reason for our enemies' control over our lands is to steal our oil." He explained that oil prices were too low, and even the trading of oil on the free market constituted a theft by Western countries. For this reason, the jihadist movement should take the situation into its own hands. "Focus your operations on [oil]," he said, "especially in Iraq and the Gulf, for that will be the death of them."

Bin Laden is dead, but the attacks continue and the threat remains. We must make ourselves less vulnerable. One well-placed jihadi strike could totally destroy the economy of the West. Why? Because our entire economy rests on oil. Why? Because at the pump we have no choice. The backbone of the economy — transportation — requires oil.

Senate Passes Bill Strengthening Tennessee's Anti-Terrorism Law

The following was posted Saturday by Pamela Geller:

(NASHVILLE, TN) May 21, 2011 — The State Senate today voted 26 to 3 to approve an anti-terrorism bill that updates the Tennessee Terrorism Prevention Act that was passed shortly after the 9-11 terrorist attacks and was approved unanimously in both the House and Senate. The "Material Support to Designated Entities Act of 2011" now makes the provision of "material support" a Class A felony and helps to close the prevention gap left by the 2002 statute.

"After discussions with all interested parties the bill was rewritten to achieve a fiscally responsible way to cut off "material support" that assists those planning to commit terrorist acts in Tennessee since it is the support that typically makes the acts more likely to occur," said Senator Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro), sponsor of the bill. "This bill is very timely, in view of the fact that an August 2010 background report showed 21 U.S. citizens were charged in terrorist cases in 2009 and another 20 were charged in 2010 between January and August."

The trajectory of cases of homegrown terrorism includes actors such as Memphis Carlos Bledsoe who attempted to firebomb the home of a Nashville rabbi and went on to murder 24-year old Private William Long in Arkansas. Secretary Janet Napolitano has called out to states to become more active and engaged in counter-terrorism measures.

The new amendment eliminates designation of terrorist entities by the state authorities and instead, defers to designations already made by the U.S. Secretary of State and the Department of the Treasury. The bill supports the work of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in continuing the collaboration between federal and state law enforcement authorities.

Ketron said the bill is an even handed and non-discriminatory counter-terrorism measure. The bill specifically declares that it does not target the peaceful practice of any religion. It, however, prohibits using religious doctrine as a justification for terrorist acts in Tennessee.

"It should be a priority of ours to protect the citizens of our great state — there will be no prosperity without security," he concluded.

The bill now goes to Governor Bill Haslam for his signature.
