I would hope everyone would do just that. When I first wanted to read the Koran, I bought a standard-issue Koran made for Muslims and tried to read it. I found it extremely difficult because it was written in Olde English!<br /><br />So I got A Simple Koran, which I then checked against the standard version to make sure they matched. In other words, I looked up a passage in one and then looked up the same passage in the other and compared them. It was a perfect match. I kept doing it for different passages until I was satisfied the modern version was not modified to put a bad light on Islam. I was satisfied. I was looking at the page at your link and am wondering if the An Abridged Koran is translated from the Arabic or just from some other English translation?<br /><br />Also the site mentions contradictions in the Koran.
