This was in 1984 and i can only assume things are worse and on a continued decline with islam pushing and shoving others aside in the name of the religion of peace. Yet we have the DL praising islam, whilst it shows compassion it reveals something about politics creeping into religion. The Buddha taught us to be compassionate but not foolish and just as you seize a snake by the head and not the tail showing Islam a weak hand will only lead to it been taken off, chopped off. Thailand is suffering islams sword in the south whilst the govt builds a huge mosque in a promanent part of Bangkok-it is said with saudi money. Here we have the craving and grasping the Buddha warns us of. In India hindu politicians it is said court the muslim vote. More craving and grasping. Unfortunately the spread of moral relativism weakens peoples ability to see good from bad. This is unlikely to change in the short term, if ever, so we are in for a rocky first noble truth. Of course the solution is the buddhas teaching but with a weak moral compass, politicians doing their own thing and multicuturalism weakening further the ability to see simple common sense things I am not optamistic for the future of Buddhism if it comes into contact with islam- or any other religion.
