I'm loath to clip down such an excellent article, but clip I must to give the following quoted section:

But, they are neglecting to look at the past history of Islam, and at the root of terrorism within the pages of the Qur'an and the related holy books that define and empower Islam - a root which has born bitter fruit throughout the history of Islamic conquest, and would have done the same in our day and age even if there were no Israel, and even if there were no American forces in Muslim lands.

Was the forced expulsion of the Jews and the Christians in 635AD from the Arabian Peninsula - by the "Just' and so-called "Rightly Guided' Khalifa Omar Ibn Al Khattab - caused by the Israeli occupation of Palestine?

Was the continuous march of Islamic armies to conquer and occupy neighbouring lands, country after country between the 7th and 17th centuries - all the way to the gates of Vienna - caused by the USA's invasion of Iraq?

Where was Israel at that time? Where was the United States? Why do the Arabs and the Muslims overlook their own history and their own sacred writings when asked to find a "cause' for terrorism? Especially in view of the established fact that their "holy Jihad' is found recorded in the Qur'an?

Let's face it, terrorism and violence in Islam is NOT as a result of economic and political injustices from which the nations of those regions suffer - as is propounded and perpetuated by wellmeaning Westerners, "moderate' Muslim political advisors, and possibly, some think-tank experts.

No, honourable pundits! Terrorism and violence in Islam are phenomena due to neither political nor economic injustices."

Appriciate the ways to combat terrorism but lets find out the basic facts which are root cause of terrorism, in my opinion,.

1. Terrorism is found in poverty stricken musluim countries.In these countries people are denied basic health care,job opportunities,shelter, education,road infrastructer etc etc due to the bad political and economic system. Rulers/dictators of these countries are being supported by the elite and rulers of America and western world supplying aid in term of military equipment in the name of defence from neighbouring countries leaving the room of any negotiation and talk for peace.These western allies of these dictators have created this situation which has no come back.
2. See these rich arab countries facing no real terrorism as campared to Pakistan,Afghanistan and Africa.
3. Islam has become a hostage to illitrate mullah (clergy man ) who himself does not know what he is talking and reading about.Just vist school where islam is taught and you will find;
these student belong to very poor class and their parents dont have suffcient incom or source to send their childern for propor education and schooling. These parents dont have even sufficent incom to provide food and clothing for their kids. So they choose to sent them in religious school because mullah has made them believe that one day these kids will become servant of GOD and will help eliminating their misry. Intersting point here is that these shools are being funded by rich people who donate for chairity which Islam strongly recommend to do so for the goodness of after death. It will save you for going to heaven.The enviorment of these schooles is not less than a horriable movie. Childeren are denied of reasonable food,clothing,and even sitting arrangements are not propor.I had chance to observe a school where a six year child has to walk 3km distance to get food from a restaurant for 30 students daily. The charges of this food are being paid by a rich factory owner. The money coming from charity is taken away by big mullah for his own use as there is no accountability. One can easily see what these childeren will become where grown up.
4. my appeal is for people of west and united state to please force your government that do not;
provide military support to these countries.
tell them to talk with your neighbours countries to resolve the conflicting issues. what make difference if few hundred yards go to you or come here. its not wise to spent millions dollors for few hundred yards. This money can be spent on the welfare of people of both countries.

In this way,in my humble opinion, the people of the world can combat terrorism.
p.s I am pakistani and english is not my language.pls forgive me. I am distrubed with deaths of inncocents.
