The Citizen Warrior Battle Plan
Saturday, June 16
This is the Citizen Warrior Battle Plan for defeating terrorism. Here's what a civilian can do:
1. KEEP YOUR MORALE HIGH
Reduce your anxiety and your feelings of helplessness. Improve your morale. Improve your explanatory style until you consider it possible that your actions could help defeat terrorism. An important part of reducing your anxiety is preparation for an emergency. Also part of raising morale is preventing television news from undermining your morale.
Most advice available on what to do about terrorism stops here at diminishing bad feelings. But that's only the beginning. First take care of your personal safety. Then work to eliminate the source of terrorism and create a freer, safer world.
As long as you feel like a helpless victim, you will have poor morale. The less helpless you feel, the higher your morale. The first and most important thing you can do to feel less like a helpless victim is to get busy actively working to defeat terrorism.
2. SOLVE A PROBLEM AND MAKE A PLAN
Decide what you're going to do about terrorism. Think. Use the problem solving method. Many problems need to be solved and you don't have enough time to solve them all. So you need to figure out which one you are going to tackle. Then make a plan using the same method. If you need to learn more about terrorism, start here: The Cause Of Terrorism. If you want some ideas, check out the Ideas Page. If you don't want to figure out what to do, but you are gung ho and want to get the show on the road, join the Citizen Warrior Special Forces.
3. ACCOMPLISH THE GOAL
Proceed. Accomplish each phase of your plan, one after the other. Get busy making a good thing happen. Use your time well and make your actions count. Respond to terrorism with purpose. Make your goals clear and keep a strong sense of purpose.
These three steps work for helping a friend or loved one too. Help them keep their morale high, help them think through what they're going to do about terrorism. And then encourage them to carry their plans to completion. And when they hit setbacks, help them undemoralize themselves and respond with purpose.
